Very very random ramblings.

Anyone out there thinks that Twilight reminds you of My date with a vampire? haha. i have to admit i did not read the books nor did i went to watch the movie. but the plot sounds like a complete déjà vu. i was a super 我和殭屍有個約會 fan when i was still in primary school. season 2 to be exact. some scenes i've watched over like 20 times and i still have the vcd with me now. season three was a flop la, but the first 2 seasons were like miracles of ATV. haha. one of the few ATV dramas that have viewerships that is way higher than tvb's. and apparently the author of twilight got her idea from a dream. so maybe.. she was watching 我和殭屍有個約會 before she fell asleep. right. but i'll go for 況天佑 anytime although he is much fatter, older.. and has more wrinkles. haha.

either my fax machine hates me or the fax machine at the other end of the line hates me. because it just refuses to fax.

i was telling my sister why i never liked will pan or kelvin cheng. because they lack the kyaa factor. u know the 2 of them, they never look ugly. no matter what they do they look completely the same. even if they are standing, sitting, lying, they look the same. there isnt a best looking moment. ch8's showing Under the canopy of love soon, but hai kelvin cheng, maybe i shall root for bosco instead.

on the other hand, i rewatched some parts of Good Luck and i realised what makes kimutaku the king. because his 嘴巴够濺. nice.

and Kou Shibasaki is actually quite pretty. haha. i think both she and homaki are quite pretty, but too bad, they need more sleep to remove those dark rings around their eyes. or more concealer.

SEP results out. damn it. taiwan. taiwan... ahhh.. why did i put taiwan as first choice.. hai. okay. hk summer school la.

and i have a new pair of glasses.

李克勤-自作自受

no, this is not yet another IA post. this is an IA3 post, which i have not blogged about before. haha. i think a lot of people, including myself, does not know that Hacken Lee actually sang the theme song for Infernal Affairs III. part one was so famous so everyone knew it was by the leads themselves, the second by Beyond is not that well known(i mean the song, Beyond is really well known la) but at least i knew. ha. but part three? I knew this very much later.

i've been bathing very late recently (it's holidays!!) and so each night while waiting for my hair to dry i'll just take out a random issue of iweekly to browse through. and yesterday night, i took out the IA3 issue and apparently there were some unhappiness which arose over who to sing the theme song. haha. so andy lau recorded his part (this can be found on youtube) then i dunno what tony leung didnt want to sing with leon lai and then leon lai was only willing to sing if all 3 were okay with singing the theme song. and in the end there were also problems with andy lau's record company and tada, they got hacken lee in the end.

but. this is an IA3 post. haha. so in the last 24hrs i managed to watch 3 films: kurosagi (hai. that was disappointing..), days of being wild (previous post!!) and yay Infernal Affairs III. initially i wanted to go on with Happy Together but that film is really very heavy, so i gave up and started watching IA3 instead.

IA3 is the first film of the trilogy that i watched. yesh. which i did not understand at all (naturally). haha. so after i finished IA3 (which is also the only IA film i watched in cinemas), i went to buy the IA and IA2 VCDs. IA2 is the one which i watched the most number of times, IA ranks second and i think i've only watched IA3 thrice, including today. the first time i didnt understand at all what was happening, the second time on my mandarin dubbed vcd and today, the cantonese dvd version. finally. i think i understood this movie.

from the iweekly interview with andrew lau and alan mak, they answered this question on what's the motive of IA3. so they said IA2 they were playing with time and IA3 with character development. but i dont really see it that way la. IA1 is very obvious, its focus is on the plot. but on the other hand, i think IA2 plays with character development, while IA3 the focus is on the stars, 明星魅力. seriously, part3 other than andy lau, dont u think the other characters are quite underdeveloped. the story dont attempt to tell u something, but base it on that u have watched the first 2 films, and at the same time understands the actors themselves well; and then see how they try and outshine each other.

like how i dislike charmaine sheh, i dont really like leon lai too. but i like Yeung Sir. he is outright evil, he is a cop nonetheless, but he will go into extends to get what he wants. and i like this character. if they have chosen someone whom i dont dislike that much, the effect might have been dilluted. tony leung as a cheeky mole, andy lau's quest for redemption, the odd but strangely smart chen dao ming, the always suspicious mob boss eric tsang and cool kelly chen; i thought the character and the actors themselves have emerged into one. i think the only pity is Anthony wong, he is mia for almost the whole movie.

it's a good tie-up for the trilogy. esp i like the very last scene for IA3 where tony leung went into the hi-fi shop and then he took out a few bags of white powder from a speaker before we see andy lau entering the hi-fi shop, which is exactly the classic scene in IA1 when andy lau's character first met tony leung's character. the quality of this scene (it has those marks which often occurs in those older hk films) matches more to IA1, so i guess it could have been a deleted scene from IA1. but this actually makes the ending of IA3 connect directly to IA1. so it's sort of like an IA1->IA2->IA3->IA1.. cycle. and this coincides with the theme of the trilogy, right.

i think the hardest thing to get in this film is the confusing timeline. every other 15min, there is a shift in time and it gets really frustrating to follow on first viewing. what's worse is that some things did not happen at all, it was just what andy lau was imagining. so sometimes u just get lost in the narration. but once u sort of know where u are at now and know that andy lau is going to develop schizophrenia, everything actually quite falls into place.

there's a scene which i like a lot too. it is when kelly chen has realised that andy lau is not that okay, because he was behaving like tony leung, or at least he was attempting to be like tony leung. the bgm was a Debussy kind of piano piece and then andy lau started repeating everything that tony leung said and the alarm clock suddenly rings. it's almost like A beautiful Mind already. that man is siao!! haha. but it does create that claustrophobic feel.

Finally i finished this. after watching it for the third time. haha. the first time i gave up after 20min and the second time after 40min. and the last time i watched this was already one sem ago.

nice. actually i really like this film. i guess for the first 2 times i was trying too hard to find the plot? because there was no obvious plot and i was very stubborn to try and find one. this time i just heck the plot and just enjoy the sound, the cinematography; and it's really not bad.

i like the last 3 minute of the film, which i guess quite a lot of people brought up on imdb. stephen chow made a paraody on this scene too. there are some angles in which he does look like tony leung.

Japanese Trailer
Another scene with Leslie Cheung

though this is my favourite scene(from 6:01). leslie cheung went to Philippines to find his mother; his mother refused to see him but tried to peek at him from her window. so he chose to not turn back at all, because he felt that since his mum decided not to give him a chance to see her, he too will not give her a chance too. and then he just keep walking without turning back.

I think another interesting thing to note is that the chinese title, 阿飛正傳, is the chinese title for Rebel Without a Cause when it was shown in hk.

it was out just now at 11am but i only managed to summon some courage to wake up at 1230 and to check it at 1. the first time, seriously, i am so scared abt my results. i have an 8-ball permanently on my widget bar in case i have some questions i cant answer myself. so i was waiting for firefox to load and tried to ask 8-ball if i'll do well this time la and the answer was 'it is definitely yes.' so i guess that's a good omen.

i dunno whether i shd be happy abt my grades this time round. yes it is an up in CAP, but not as much as how i wanted it to be. or at least for it to pass the 4.0 mark. next sem's going to be a tough one, so it's going to be even tougher to pull the CAP up.

and unexpectedly, my best module is the one i thought i am going to flunk. and my worse module is the one i tot was pretty easy. damn it. signals is kind of expected, given the little effort i put in. i wasnt putting any expectations into som or js but they are all okay okay. my cs1102c is better than my cs1101c. haha.

and i need to choose module for next sem. sian. faster SEP result come out and i can do all the sai ones while i am overseas.

and actually after sending in the application for SEP, im kind of regretting putting tw as my first choice. i was choosing btw hk and tw for the first choice but i tot if i have to survive on hk food for 4mths i think i will just die. haha. 'noooo.i dont want another serving of 公仔面!!' haha. but to think of studying semiconductors in mandarin, haiiiii.

just when i tot this idea is already too over-recycled. again!! from episode 2 of Your Class or Mine. haha. finally found a drama that suits me. so we have this prodigy who draws strange pictures and no one can understand her. when i first heard the parents saying that she was drawing stuff and no one knew what she was doing, i already had the 'oh no. they better not repeat it again' OS in my head. and yesh. it's that same thing again.

Do you like House?

阿MAY老師/SHOWBIZ‧團體舞蹈PK

Hoooouuuuuuusssssssseeeeeeeeee!!

i remember i was telling someone that i was learning house and the reply was 'house can learn one meh? i tot it's just disco dance?' hai. haha.

i had this strange feeling before they started performing that they might be doing house. or maybe that was just a little wish within me because no one had performed house in 棒棒堂 before. and they really did!! yay. watch 阿MAY and his reggae too.

and. some spending this week. threadless' 5bucks tee promo still on. but i bought 2 other 10bucks tees. it seems cheap but together with shipping fees it amounts to quite a lot. hai. shall take those tees as new year clothes.

and my moleskine!! haha. i bought my moleskine already. a very not cultish-love red diary, cos most of those who loves moleskines will opt for the black plain notebook. but after giving some thoughts over practicability, i settled for the red one instead. stylo. will bring to school for the next 2 sems to come.

i think recent tvb suffers from the 'damn. i should have just watched the second last episode and forget abt the last' problem. but. im glad i watched the last episode. episode 19 of Catch Me Now (原來愛上賊) can be regarded as the last episode because you know almost everything u need to know already, episode 20 serves more as an SP.

i admit i knew a certain important element of the ending before really watching it because of the spoilers i got from youtube and wiki. but they still surprised me, perhaps even more than if i didnt know that certain important element.

Catch Me Now is a really low budget production. there is no theme song, no big cast and no big effects. but i love it still. actually i settled for Last One Standing at first, because it reminds me so much of Maou and it's the genre that i enjoy watching, but i gave up after episode 2. I had certain reservations about Catch Me Now because I was scared that the script could have been bad too given you know the budget.

if we dont count Drive of Life[because i stopped at episode 12], my last Damian Lau drama was Hard Fate. it was a hit then, at least among the people around me, some were kelvin cheng and niki chow fan and some flora chan fan. but i felt a little uncomfortable watching damian lau and flora chan. it was really 不素胡, 不素胡, 不素胡. it was either flora chan trying too hard to act cute or damian lau trying too hard to look suave, so i was kind of happy when he became crazy.

so i had a lot of reservations against damian lau before starting this show, and might the very reason i resisted watching it [joe ma was the other reason]. but i think i have totally changed my mind after watching this. watching michael miu act cool in dicey business was okay at first but when about 3 quarter of the show was over i felt a little uncomfortable, watching him trying to act young, so i was also kind of scared that damian lau might appear to be too forceful. but nope, it was good. they retained his grey hair [i guess natural] which was also an interesting move.

Jack ko is modern day Robin Hood, rob criminals and to give half of the loot to charity. because of a past incident, he does not believe that police alone can do enough justice to certain criminals and wants to punish them his way. leader of the gang of 5 thieves, he is cool, super cool. the kind of cool u seldom see in tvb. his clever exchanges with both kong yeung and BT are all the must watch scenes. he lives in a hse that looks super cool even if it is just one propped up in a studio. his taste is not that bad, though i think he drinks a little too much wine, i feel the pain for damian lau because i think he really consumes a lot of dark red/purple liquid [haha. is that ribena?] for this drama.

His relationship with bao yung-yung is quite comfortable to watch, thank goodness it's not those bing bing biang biang type. the subtle changes in jack ko after he met her is also nice to see. he opens himself up each day but he does realise accepting bao yung-yung will be a whole lot of responsibility.

johnson lee plays my favourite character BT(Tam Ben). he really makes the whole drama become so enjoyable and to some extend unique. who does his clothes? wa. it's so differently nice. i dunno whether johnson lee's degree had helped him in anyway, but i just love all his clothes, maybe minus the white shoes. and he is constantly 'sunning his english'. haha. im also wondering whether it's a move by the crew or by johnson lee himself. my second johnson lee drama, love his humor, love his acting, nice.

BT does electrial and computer engineering. waaa. haha. and is the top50 hackers in this world. he deals with all the electrical and IT stuff and can even control traffic lights. waaa. haha. a little ridiculous but it makes it even more interesting to watch.

Idy Chan plays Bao yung-yung. according to wiki, she had a 5 year relationship with chow yun fatt and andy lau has fallen in love with her too. waaa. haha. i have never seen her before, but she's good as the naive bao yung-yung.

for the first half of the show, i really think bao yung-yung is outright stupid. how can someone be so naive and kind? she's damn stupid la. but of course she didnt change, but i accepted her naive-ness at the back, like how i guess jack ko has accepted that too.

joe ma plays kong yeung. not a fan of joe ma because i didnt really like him in triumph in the skies. it's quite fitting for his surname to be ma, dont u think he looks like a horse? haha. right. his acting is still like that but it's already not too bad la. but i really dont like his jeans and white belt. out out out.

kong yeung, friend of justice, is a policeman. he draws a very clear line between what's wrong and what's right. so for the first half of the show we see him very determined to put jack and gang behind the bars. for the second half, he became friends with jack ko and the grey area starts to bleed into him.

his relationship with his family and wife seems a little underdeveloped and 2D. there are times when i hope they will just stop arguing.

fala chen plays minnie, wife of kong yeung. she is one smart wife. haha. even when the bad guy tries to blackmail her, they couldnt do anything to her. fala chen is still as good. i like her in MR, and here too. it's better for her to act as this kind of smart OL, instead of maybe the third party or some spoilt daughter. if minnie could argue less with kong yeung, it could have been better.

long leg crab, keyman and sissy. long leg crab is in charge of guns, keyman in charged of locks and sissy driving. they are all part of the 5-man team which goes round robbing the criminals.

this drama's only villan. of course there are other villans but they either somehow related to him or are actually working under him. yes. so he is the only villan. evergreen mak.

sharon chan as kong kiu, kong yeung's sister and BT's girlfriend. where did i see her before?

kong yeung's team. irritating at first but i guess they grew into me after some time.

yung-yung's son. i dont know why but he tends to stick his words together when he talks? hai. must be the trauma from his dad.

oily face keung!! hahaahaha. jack ko's old friend and lawyer.

the ending. i like the ending. though i was a little unhappy with the scriptwriter's decision at first but watching the alternative ending, i tot this original one is still better. leaving at the appropriate time, when u are at your peak and only leave the beautiful side of you to others; i guess that's what i like abt the original ending.

alternative ending. for those who are still screaming 'NOOOOOOOO~' to their tvs even after the credits are up. haha. unsatisfied with what i was given for the original one, i went to watch the alternate one, but i guess the original one is still the better one.

who is this har? stupid person. i tot he was a spy by evergreen mak leh. haha. evergreen mak sends spy into the police team. so i tot too much. chey.

the most out of character scene for jack ko. the part where yung-yung came back after going through her course on perceptions. he just threw the panadol away and shouted that his headache had gone away in a very unjackly fashion.

there was this scene where jack and yung-yung's son were sword fighting? haha. excuse me. who u are fighting here against is the legendary 4-eyebrows 陸小鳳 [情與義 值千金.. god of cookery!!], confirm lose right. can u see his stance and the way he is holding his sword. the 1980s period drama pattern.

my love for things is very much like koreans, i realise. the love for everything original; the classic/original version of everything. lays classic, ruffles original, ipod classic, original coke, original pringles, original ripped cd (no radio rip or pv rip, thanks) and only to watch films in their original languages. i just dislike a variation of something that is already well done. like how my mum used to play around with the food she cooks, like adding something special to the meat dumplings she makes but i will tell her that there must be a reason why food/things are in a certain form today. because people have realised that this much be the best way, and variations will only make it worse. haha. 不孝!!

i am a super loyal buyer once find something that suits me. my brand for pens, erasers, pencils and correction tapes have not changed since my secondary school days; i just change for a new one of the exact model once my old one cant function anymore. almost the same goes for my slippers and my sneakers.

and my love for things that strangely have received cultish love elsewhere. my constant interest to look at new crumplers. my love for nike dunk. my love for eason chan's and mr children's music? my earlier love for mac and my most recent one: love for moleskine.

my current craze? you know this thing which u can use to emboss words onto a strip of tape and then u cut the tape and paste it onto anywhere u like. haha. and also GTD.

2 good news. for the okto sunday art film on 28Dec, they will be showing takuya kimura's Love and Honor (武士の一分). yes!! haha. and second. they are bringing in Yogisha X no Kenshin next Feb, the movie version of galileo. i know this drama-SP-movie trend [hanadan, kurosagi] is getting super boring. but who ask Yogisha X no Kenshin to be a box-office hit. now i want to watch it too.

and nodame's making a movie too. code blue's working on its SP.

still watching Catch Me Now. u know like how brad pitt seems to be constantly eating in the oceans trilogy, BT seems to be constantly drinking. haha. check out where he was drinking from in episode 13.

if u are a mr children fan like me. yes. their new album Supermarket Fantasy is out. which means a round of publicity on national tv. more live performance. yay.

HKAIFF 2008- 金國民Citizen King Trailer

wow. i didnt know abt this. haha. was reading his blog when i found out abt his directorial debut. was shown at HKAIFF this year. watch the trailer.

and on another note. actually the previous johnson lee show that i watched was Devil's Disciple and i sort of long forgotten abt him. till Catch Me Now. BT is totally my favourite character. haha. and only that i remembered something that i forgot. he has the same birthday as me. the second person i've found till now.

and his favourite film is godfather. i really thought he was only funny.

check out an introduction on his film on HKAIFF website.
Reading this got me thinking. i guess i have really liberal parents who supported my sis and i to do anything we like. there are times when my mum will tell me 〞這有什麼用?〞 but my dad really seldom. our hobbies are quite crazy and our aspirations even crazier. my sis has strange wordings on her wall and i want to have maozedong sprayed on my wall. haha.

and actually i long wanted to blog abt this during the exam period. quoting our dear ah-Ka and changed to suit the context '有grades唔系大塞架!School唔系大塞架!k書都唔系大塞架!' right. i dunno whether i got too brainwashed during the jc days or that my rebellion period is coming too late, but recently i really feel that studying is not all that important. but the problem is, almost everyone in EE feels that it is. which makes me feel a little suffocated?

go outside and look at the world. because it does not revolve around whether you are doing well in your studies or not.

on the other hand, i finished MR but am a little lazy to blog about it. haha. 遲d先啦!

from episode 20. so 管家仔 knows dingding too. hahahaha. nice.
For the whole of this week, i've been leading a total parasitic life. i've been doing nothing other than watching tvb dramas and playing patapon. hai.

so yesterday i got a little guilty and decided to continue cleaning up my room. i think till now i've used 12 whole hours cleaning up my room, throwing away useless stuff [i threw away 10 whole bags of things by now] and it's still not as neat as how i hoped it will become. maybe for the rest of this month i shall continue cleaning up the whole house, which i have wanted to do since ages ago.

come, get me out of the house leh. let's go kbox. or anything la. just stop me repeating the cycle of tvb drama, patapon, dinner, more patapon and then tvb drama.

and i am just lazy to get jobs. after the 7-month torture, the idea of working again really puts me off. tuition is my only income now but even 2hrs a week is torturous for me. i am a parasite of this society. oh man. haha. okay i dont mind working in a dvd rental shop. haha. or kinokuniya.

SEP application ends this sunday and i've yet to complete the application. hai. stop procrastinating and get a life.

on another note. im going to school tmr so i guess that will make me a little less useless. and that the shop has called yesterday to inform that my calendar is here. yay. i hope they dont try and rob me because i didnt ask for the price in the first place. please make it less than 20bucks.

listening to xiejiafa makes me want to watch healing hands again. damn. i need to spend more time out of my hse.

this is super funny. and i like how they called this game don-chaka because the first was patapon.

it's nice to see him sing maybe a little more normally. instead of imitating sammi.

on the other hand. episode of 15/16 with yoyo mung, linda chung and frankie lam. hahahahaha. they are damn funny.

hahahaha. when frankie lam said that he will remember them if they bluffed him even at the 2nd question.

after linda gave an analysis on the number question and to conclude they use Arabic numeral. but when they asked her if she knew the difference between Arabic numeral and roman numeral and she said she didnt know.
