家好月圓慶中秋。

till now i've watched til ep3 of moonlight resonance and i will definitely recommend it to anyone who have watched HOG or anyone who likes tvb drama. on the overall they are following the blueprint of HOG: family, small wife big wife and a bunch of good looking kids.

but of course they have changed some stuff la. first the way they narrate is a little different. like how i said in my last post, they choose to jump between different timeline to tell the story. first they show u what's happening now and then to use the past to explain what has caused all to be like this today. this type of narration shows some resemblance to infernal affairs3. it gets a little confusing la. especially when jumping from 2008 to 1995 then 2008 again then 1996, i get a little lost which comes before which when i dont take note of the year. but i felt what they did well was to bring out the feel of maybe 1995 [when i was still in primary1. hahahahahaha.] and so the audience dont get too disorientated.

and secondly, i think they are trying the japanese way of storytelling in their dramas. there is a main plot that runs in all the episode. but for each episode, there is an important incident/event that will end at the end of the episode. for example in ep3, the story for that episode is abt the grandpa wanting a reunion dinner during the mid autumn festival and also about the death of hayu's little brother. the conflict and resolution of this certain incident happens in one single episode. quite interesting because you dont really see this type of storytelling in hk dramas.

many of the characters retained their personality they had in HOG. there is some significant switching in the characters but the main plotline is very much similar. like for moses chan, he is no longer an uneducated person who works in his father's shop. instead he is very much educated but still retains very much of duk duk dei's character.

and following HOG, they are still choosing to use famous canto songs as background songs maybe as an aid in narration. like when they were talking about hayu's brother who loves watching A better tomorrow [by chow yun fatt and leslie cheung] they were playing leslie cheung's 當年情 in the background which is the theme song for a better tomorrow. somehow i think how HOG could work out so well with their audience is also the strong use of hongkong elements that the audience could relate to.

我知道我变漂亮了。

every time a new thomas ong show comes out i will want to watch it but always lack the stamina to finish them. Perfect Cut will add one more towards my list of shows-starring-thomas-ong-that-i-want-to-watch-but-i-just-keep-missing-them.

i guess actually there are actually quite a number of people out there watching this drama. cos when i talked about the julianhee irony, there are quite some who understood what i was talking about. kudos to the scriptwriter for being so daring. first the julian hee one liner that made me laugh so hard and number 2 to bring felicia chin and plastic surgery together. zai!!

Yesterday - Leona Lewis

today's 30th july. which makes it D-day.

actually among all the project superstar contestant, i tot he is the one with the lrgest potential to make it as a singer.

moonlight resonance.

i love all the 攻劇策略s of tvb. hahahaha.

finished the first episode yday on tvants though the buffering is really bad. and only after that i realised d-addicts have up to ep3 for SD version and ep1 for the HD version.

not bad la. there is a common saying that sequels are often worse than the original one; i tot the first ep was not bad. jasmine was still talking abt alfred and sheung zoi-sum the other day. i think how linda chung and raymond lam are related now is more interesting than in heartofgreed.

and like heartofgreed, they got some interesting people to calefare[hahahaha. the new gurmit singh show]. shirley yeung as the young lsk and jack wu as the young ha yu. and evergreen mak on the billboard of the mooncake company. and talking abt shirley yeung, this time round chen fala has no dialogues in moonlight resonance like how shirley yeung doesnt have dialogues in price of greed. awwww. somehow chen fala seems to be more likable this way.

update after watching ep3: the most shiok parts of HOG and MR are always when the bad people get KO-ed. just feel super shiok. haha. when wayne lai told the truth out and KO-ed the bad people, super shiok. and i realised lailokyi and moseschan are using w960i, which is my phone. haha. it's a lagging phone, dont get it.

and i realised they have some really interesting songs for their bg music. like jacky cheung's 來來回回 and leslie cheung's 當年情. good chance to learn some oldies. oh ya. for MR, they keep using the past to reflect what's happening today. filling u in with details along the way. at first i tot this method was a bit confusing when u keep jumping along the timeline. but now to look at it, this playing of time is not a bad way of narration.

okay. now i need to sleep. got to get up early to go to school tmr.

來來回回。

27july.

waaa. it's been a long since i sat down properly to blog. a very hectic 3month and i have spent the last few days fighting out with myself in my dilemma. and of course i have an answer now, after thinking through what i want in life and what i want out of my uni education.

went to sc chalet this thu-fri. haha. tried all the drinking stuff i learnt during film camp. haha. seriously, i am like how guai. dislike drinking dislike clubbing. if i know those games it's some sort of miracle. hahahaha.

house1 ended yesterday. awww. have yet to sign up for house2 cos i was considering hiphop1 but after watching this, i guess im continuing with house2 so that i can be better at that. jack jack jack jack.. and after house2 maybe i will jio yueyun to go down for hiphop one with me.

watched 星光 yday. the theme was idol and u will sing one of your idol's song in front of him/her and to sing tgt with him/her in another one of his/her song.

and 徐佳瑩 asked for 盧廣仲. hahahahaha. omg. i love this guy. he is so cool. he is as cool as circus la. omg. watch him imitate vitas.

a lot of concerts this 2 months. and the thing is they are all my favourite singers la. first eason. then sodagreen. hai. didnt have the money for a concert and so i didnt go for the eason one and most prob not going for the sodagreen one too. but they are really people that are worth listening to LIVE.

went down to the glass house the other day with ocomm and i didnt know they have live singing at fish&co. hahahaha. and i realised what's the genre that i like to listen to. pub songs. haha. cos like in timbre and the duo at fish&co are all singing songs that i like. and that i seriously dont listen to a lot of english songs.

went out with sg on fri. haha. long time no see and everyone is still so crazy la. was a little tired and so didnt really camwhore. but nice to see them.

and i met felicia and yueting on thu. haha. got my burfday present from them. thanks a lot!! haha. i admit i was a little too busy during the hols la. i confirm when sch starts i will be super eng. haha.

mooncake show will start tmr night. hope i can rush back in time to catch it on tvants. yay. hk shows. long time no see!!

oh ya. and recently i borrowed this cinematography book from the esplande library. omg. the book is so good. it's so detailed. but now i really have to be diligent and finish it. not like my premiere pro bk that took me 3 borrows [which is a total of 3x21=63days] and i still could not finish it.and after that move on to film art: an introduction by david bordwell. yay.

oh ya.i watched red cliff. on imdb the comments are quite mixed. with people giving as high as 10outof10 and some 1outof10. i personally love the movie. i have friends who didnt really enjoy it and a father who feels cheated after watching it. hahahaha. cos he first didnt know there is a part2 and secondly he felt that since the title is red cliff, the focus should be the red cliff. haha.

but i love it. the plot ah.the dialogues ah. it's true they are speaking with modern mandarin. so what. john woo had said that he didnt want to make a boring historical movie but instead to make the audiences feel for the characters. i tot he had succeeded. strong supporter of the original 3kingdoms will tend to not like this movie, but if as a standalone film i tot it was good. and of course i love the cast. tony leung, takeshi kaneshiro, hu jun, lin zhi ling and all the actors from china. i tot they were really good. and comparing with warlords, i tot this is so much better.

hotpot hotpot hotpot.

got to leave for medical checkup now. damn. i hate it.

hotpot.

i will make these look like aerobics.

house

hiphop

[haha. im not learning hiphop. but since this is the studio we learn in and that's our teacher and the routine's nice. so.. i shall put the video here. omg. i see my classmate. hahahahahahaa.]

Another thing. circus action 4 is asking for 30guys/girls to join in their 熱血巴士. hai. cant join cos im obviously not in tw now. but really looking forward to circus action 4.

and.. leo and 小馬 have a new movie coming up called 態度. a documentary on a basketball team of the same name. opening 17july in tw.

trailer.

the background music from 1:36 sounds a lot like the one from tokyo tower trailer.

and 黑人 got different artistes to give their interpretation of the word 態度 and at the same time promote the movie. check them out here.
名人談態度-黃靖倫

and leo got onto this magazine which u can get free in tw. damn it. i want the magazine.

from this season. hai. but till now they dont seem to be as good as last season's last friends.

Maou OP

Code Blue ED

code blue is the typical doctor medical kind of drama. but i prefer healing hands. maybe a little too serious for me. but what i like abt japanese dramas is that they are really serious with what they are protraying. but the drama lacks this certain something to attract me.

maou is the japanese remake of mawang. the plot's interesting. but maybe the choice of cast and also how it is filmed is kind of lacking. there are sudden cuts [which does not add on the effect but makes it look funny] and the way they place the camera doesnt really make ohno look like a cool killer. but maybe more of a psychotic mad man with a really oily face. haha. like how my sister puts it. it's good if u watch this without the knowledge of the korean version. but if u have watched the korean version before..

watched 21 yesterday. there are people who like the show la. but i think it could have been done better. the plot is very.. expectable, the timing is not really good. it could have been make tighter and shorter. the jokes are not really funny [as compared to maybe oceans 13]. it could have been better if they bothered to explain monty hall paradox in greater detail. or to engage the audience more in the gambling part. it seems like at first the director is full of passion. got lots to say. then halfway he got tired, decided to go for the easy way.

yo yo sports camp.

havent blogged abt sports camp after coming back. too tired. for the past few days i've been either slping or doing studios stuff. but how can i not blog abt sports camp man. hahahahahahaa. the best camp is nus. and somemore from the o comm's perspective.

[play this song in your background before continue reading.]

so chronologically. from the day yueyun pulled me into sports camp. which is one year ago. haha. so as a freshie of nus and sick and tired of all camps ever since sec school days, i was not intending to go into any camp. but yueyun, who went to 3 camps in the end, convinced me to go for at least one camp. to get to know more friends and also nus before the start of school.

we were deciding btw nussu and sports. but we chose sports in the end cos nussu sounded a little too school-ly. and woah. 6 days with laojiao and of a huge culture shock to me. i was like thinking 'omg. so this is how they do it in uni. this is life man!!'

and fast forward to this yr april/may. got to know abt sports camp o comm from eunice who is the project director(weeping)'s classmate. all engin kids. i had wanted to get into the committee since i really loved the previous MOMO people. but i think the deadline was long over or something like that. but we went on to apply. went to the interview. the first person i recognise was jasper, who is last sports camp's best male freshie 'gangabng ooi~'. strangely i got through the interview and tada. im in programme cell.

following the formation of o comm was week after week of amending our programme proposals. at first we were assigned ubin and yours truly for fright night. fright night was almost taken out. then a collaboration with csi and finally merging with csi. and the final product: CSI fright night.

more proposals. and marketing stepped in. and finally log. spend days with o comm to shop for log stuff. pity we didnt take any photos then. er. of us log shopping. haha.

ubin recee. our initial plan had ubin in it. so we went down to ubin to check the place out.

sentosa recee. also to check out sentosa.

more recee. and meetings at clubroom. [luge!! haha.]

games trial day!! before we can ask people to play our game, we have to play them ourselves.

sentosa trial. more games at sentosa.

then we got the councilors to join in the fun. precamp!!
precamp is only 2days2nights long. includes station games, pool games, sentosa, csi night and night cycling. by then we have the 4 houses: nippon, orient, olympians and middle earth.

[i guess by now the first song has ended. continue with this song.]

more changes to our plans. improve improve. and show time.

day1

to be continued.
