Fear not when you see a snake.

the more i was studying for my mid term, the more i got fed up. fed up with everything that has to do with this certain module.

the lecturer just smokes through all his lectures. i could feel that he was only smoking through, he didnt know his stuff well, he was unprepared and could not care more for what he was teaching. thank goodness my tutor was better, and so i learnt most of the stuff from him.

the notes are horrible. very cluttered. no idea what was written and lacking in a lot of information.

I dont know whether the lecturer's too lazy or he's trying to be cool. tmr's mid term's closed book but there are so many freaking things to remember. like the model number of the tools. wth. who remembers them. and no calculator. i need to do long division tmr. and if the numbers are small enough for me to do them.

and most lecturers will tell you what topics the mid term will be tested till. but this lecturer tells us the date [eg. mid term will be tested till the lecture of 10 sept]. who remembers what's taught on sept 10? it's not like each lecture has a separate set of notes or each week we deal with different things. it's a typical engin module where we just continue wk after wk. and people are now complaining on the ivle because no one knows where the mid term's tested till.

and the lectuer's complete disregard for giving information. we do not know the format of the test, we do not know the topics tested, we do not know how to freaking study for the test.

and he keeps emailing us crappy stuff just to stress us out. i hope tmr's over before i know it.

this reminds me of a joke my dad learned during this army days:

if you see a snake and a klk in a forest, who should you kill first?

the klk. because you will be wary of the snake's danger, but the klk will appear friendly to you, smoke you through and before you know it, he has already killed you.

and my lecturer's a klk.

i need to mug. but i really feel like watching another episode of moonlight resonance so that i can vent my anger on the ah hong or sth. haha.

陳奕迅、米雪 - 相思風雨中

林峰 - 沙灘 (Live)
愛不疚 - 林峯 @勁歌金曲 家好月圓夜
男人最痛、忘盡心中情 - 陳奕迅 x 夏雨 x 阮兆祥
陳法拉 - Ice-Cream [at first i didnt know what song this was from the title alone. now i know. haha. it works like 'my love will get you home' from HOG.]

Some stuff i got from the tvb channel on youtube. haha.

They have this series called 爛gag俱樂部 where they got different artistes to say a very lousy joke because 荷媽[Lee Si Kei] from MR loves saying lousy jokes.

I love this by Gallen Lo.

qn: 乜野,係識溜冰架呢?
ans: 花式溜冰 [花識溜冰]

hahahahahaha.

i think this (whole part) has to be my fav part of the movie. there are other stronger, better scenes, but this few scenes sort of prepares u for what's going to come at the back and is the start of everything.

分分鐘需要你。

from movie 'Silent Love' (聽不到的說話). classic!!

我等你等了好久。

i cant really differentiate now that whether we are feeling so tired because recess week is coming or because we are so tired, we need recess week. oh man. i am so looking forward to it. feeling super tired both physically and mentally. i need to catch up with EE2012 and EE2006. seriously.

i've been thinking some time ago that i am really screwed up this sem in terms of my school work. but to think again. im only screwed up in that 2 subjects. the others i felt they were okay. i like JS and CS naturally so shall not count that. science of music is still okay till now though im kind of worried abt the essay and the midi piece we have to compose. ee2009 im okay. but i guess it has to do with the lecturer a lot. he is really good.

must.mug.hard.

oh the other hand. im totally not the studying mood this wk and spent most of my time in central library watching films whenever im free. my fav seat's one that is sufficiently out of view and the tv's great. but a lot of the time there will be someone there before me.

so my first Hayao Miyazaki's film. Spirited away. love it to bits. im kind of shocked too. cos i really really do not watch anime. i have only watched one. one single uno. which is ouran high school host club. haha. most of the time i prefer reading the comic books. and have never watched a single japanese anime film[i have only watched the tw grandma-who-catch-ghost movie]. cos i just feel that it's not my sort. all the crazy fantasy stuff. siao. hahahaha.but im totally blown away by spirited away. the plot is so good. i love chihiro/sen although she is 2D, but she felt so 3D. quoting from somewhere else, why Hayao Miyazaki's films sell because when we watch we believe that the characters are real and what happening to them are real when they are so obviously 2D.

so spirited away follows the story of a girl called chihiro. she and her parents accidentally went into the god/spirit world and met a series of adventure. haha. in that world, chihiro met haku who helped her.

久石讓Joe hisaishi Live - One Summer's Day (from Spirited Away)

this kind of makes me want to watch howl's moving castle too.

got this from wiki 'Miyazaki has been deeply influenced by another French writer, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. He illustrated the Japanese covers of Saint-Exupéry's Night Flight (Vol de nuit) and Wind, Sand and Stars (Terre des Hommes), and wrote an afterword for Wind, Sand and Stars.'

interesting.

on the other hand. this wk's film, Heisei Tanuki Gassen Ponpoko, is strange strange strange and strange. it follows the story of thie bunch of racoon dogs who want to prevent human from destroying nature. because it's their home. very strange. they do crazy stuff. a lot of tribute/reference to other films. but strange lor. haha. im starting to rank this together with tokyo story. haha.

HANABI-Mr.Children [Live from MS SP]

誰も皆 悲しみを抱いてる
だけど素敵な明日を願ってる

and im back to watching moonlight resonance. haha. good la.

林峯 - 愛不疚

last 3 days of school.

There are 10 types of people in the world: those who understand binary, and those who don't.

recess wk. soon. shall blog once it starts. im really looking forward to it la.

anw, watched spirited away for this wk's film. wa. i love it. blog about this later.

10^-9.

somehow the new nano looks strangely beng. it kind of resembles some other brand. or maybe some bad imitation of nano. but somehow if i am to buy an ipod now, i think i'll consider this. haha. ironic.

and bundled with this is the itunes8 which has gotten itself some complains.

虹の女神。

Rainbow Song (Niji no Megami)
Ueno Juri, Ichihara Hayato, Yu Aoi

It started with wanting to watch a webcast and i ended up watching a whole movie. haha. rainbow song starring Ueno Juri [Swing Girls, Nodame Cantabile, Last Friends) and Ichihara Hayato (All about Lily Chou-chou, Water boys 2) is not.. bad. i have to say i didnt watch a single of those pure-love movies from japan before this. because i felt that the stories will be very much similar to each other (think early korean dramas). koi zora, be with you and Crying Out Love, in the Center of the World etc. i didnt even bother looking at them. but this has ueno juri. ahhh. and im kind of liking ichihara hayato after repeated viewing of all about lily chou-chou so i tot maybe i could spend some time not thinking about c++ and then to watch a movie that can make me cry and cry. haha.

it turned out okay. but the script. urgh. so much improvement could be made to it. the concept is nice... but not brought out well. like the title rainbow song. im thinking the scriptwriter wants the rainbow thing to be the link between the 2 characters but it sort of lost its direction in the middle. and then the story diverge too much. yes the shots are beautiful but they are not helping with the development of the story. it could be refined!! wasted!!

this script was actually one that was submitted to shunji iwai under his script bowl thing which he set up on his website to encourage people to write scripts, send it over to him and then after judging by a few volunteer judges, if they feel that it's good they will pass it to a producer.

so it follows the story of this girl who has interest in film making [with a 16mm] and then how she met another guy and it follows till her death which spans over around 2-3 years.

like many others who have watched and made comments on their blogs, what made me continue watching and even to feel that it was a not bad work is actually the actors themslves. the acting is so good. especially on ueno juri's part. some time ago i read that the director for last friends got ueno juri down for ruka's role after watching her in rainbow song. ichihara hayato's lack of ambition, ueno juri's sabishi-ness (lonely sounds a bit funny. haha) it was so well done. urgh. if only the script was better. wasted wasted wasted.

不要說話。

願意 在角落唱沙啞的歌
再大聲也都是給你
愛是用心嗎 不要說話

it was the 4th of september.

okay. quite a few things happened. so gonna start with what im most excited abt first. hah.

today was the 'ask about exchange' day where they had like booths and talks on SEP and we could mingle around with past exchange students about the SEP experience. went to the engin booth first with elizabeth and wanted to ask a few questions la. and as usual, the woman was so lousy that she just gave me generic answers. oh man. but i sort of expected this kind of stuff from engin.

so went down to the asia booth and yaozong was there and i guess answering anyone's question abt tw. went to ask another lady at the japan booth abt whether there were schools which i could take engin modules in english [i think this is like an almost impossible task because japan seem to always serve the fass people only] and so she gave me 2 unis which might have but not confirm. hai. actually this kind of reminds me of the experience during the psc talk when i went to the japan booth and asked them whether psc was the only one who will send someone to japan to study la. and this really really kind prof from this certain japanese uni came to entertain me. and he could speak mandarin better than english? haha. it was quite entertaining to talk to him. but yah. he said that psc was the only one and we had to study japanese intensively for one year before departing for uni studies. talking abt this. they gave me this list of unis which offers courses in english then. i better go dig it out.

anw. it was then i saw this guy who was like a cross-over btw Asari Yosuke and Sakurai Kazutoshi. he looked a little mature for a uni student but still super cool. he was there to answer people's question abt japan i guess. super cool. oh man. i want to go japan. hahahahahha.

so second thing. my first sit in lab was over!! oh man. from the bad experience from last year's PE i tot i was doomed. but i was shocked by myself when i managed to finish it in 20min. as fast as the guy nxt to me. oh man. i.... am so proud of myself!! hahahahaha. and did all the indentation and commenting stuff that i could before leaving the lab. okay. im kind of getting my passion for computing back.

and today was second day of intermediate film school. it was better than yday i guess, when everyone started talking to each other. go group 3!! haha. i will start bringing my grover from nxt wk.

lily chou-chou no subete.

the last time i remembered watching a movie and felt sick in the stomach was a beautiful mind. it was a good film but too realistic maybe for me to take it. and now it is 'All about lily chou-chou'. watching it for a module project but i have to admit it is good. and somemore it runs along the line of the coming-of-age film that i want to make: us finding what we are in this world while filling ourselves up with many seemingly important stuff.

but it's so seemingly realistic that i felt like puking now. plugged into my itunes now and listening to some canto ballads before i go off to bathe and sleep. i hope i better not have a nightmare about this film or something like that.

computing lecture early in the morning tmr and i've yet done my lab. damn. i need more hours a day. i've yet to finish makioka sisters and tokyo story. they are all good films and there are too many in this world to finish them [i wonder how the peter guy finished 600plus in 2 years].

interviews for film school ended. which marks the starting of film school this wednesday. i am definitely looking forward to it but that would mean better time management and less playing with the rest of studios. jazz band and finishing this months film fest submission. studios stuff!! and also sch stuff. i cant afford another drop in my CAP.

and of course yet another 氣死我了 incident. this time round maybe not just a single incident but the attitudes of certain people. ahhhhh. so forceful and nominating. i wonder how they got on with their lives till today. i shall just count this as my worst of luck. there are times when i will come across people whose character i cant stand. and they are just the few. endure and this sem will be over. and a big sayonara to them.
