no life.

until to the extent that i realise that we who share the same technoage, we who share the same macdonalds, really dont have much life. so i guess we should start clubbing. nevermind the loud music. we should er have more life. haha. we should stop looking at our secure shell. and to sing more kbox. we should stop trying to find general solutions and particular solutions. we should be at sentosa. yesh. come. it's time we should make us as got life as our friendly neighbours.

Yesterday

oh. and i found 女子十二樂坊 performing 涙そうそう. haha. and there's junichi okada on the 揚琴.

update: omg. 女子十二樂坊 plays orange range's 花 too. haha. watch it. nice.

orange range 花 PV

do u understand?

okay. i just got a wake up call. that i seriously have to start mugging or im gonna get CAP 2 this sem. seriously. even with my favourite CS around. cos CS is freaking seriously hard. and math. and pc. and econs. i need to mug man. especially the econs that is so not econs. oh. and 1108.

and now the most urgent thing on my hand now is actually to call ac abt me not able to attend founder's day. hais. why am i persuaded by her to go founder's day when i was so firm abt not attending it already? hais.

and my proposal for fright night is not out yet. okay. tonight and tmr. finish proposal and study. tmr send out the documents and write the essay for application for c n yang.

and fri i can then do what i need to do. and sat too. oh damn. i havent do anything concrete for our js project yet.and i have not even touched the 2 books i borrowed from central library.

okay. thicken my face skin. be firm. and tell the lady i cant go for founder's day. yesh.

on the other hand, i tot this wk is rather lucky for me. even with the piling work on me, this wk was quite happy. first off. guess who's on this wk's iweekly? hahahahaha. thomas ong!! yayyayyyyyy. haha. the topic was on kidult with him and nat ho. i tot it was a erm.. rather old topic since the whole kidult thing started a few years ago. but still.yayyyyy.

second thing. i managed to catch 我們的飯店 the first time since it started airing despite all the work and stuff. haha. i think it's really good. the story's rather cliche but it was still quite well done. i tot the script's rather well done. very simple and in one hr it brings across a simple idea through a simple story. different each wk. a little bit like the format for japanese dramas. oh. i think the 9pm show now is quite well done too. haha. the 1-rm flat show.

another thing. me and jasmine went back to ac today. haha. met felicia tan (whom i havent met for a long long time) and of course our favourite gplow. and... skw!! hahahahahaha. somemore we saw him 3 times. once in canteen, once outside staff rm and once inside staff rm. hahahahahaha. i mean it's not tat easy to meet him in sch since out of the 10 times i went back i only saw him today. haha. oh. and did i say we went into the staff rm? haha. felicia tan brought us in. and we kind of made sure we take a good look at all the teachers' tables. and have a good time listening to the paging system.

update: hahahahahaha. look at this.

u know i just checked my top 25 most played playlist on my laptop (with a new macdonalds sticker on it) and guess which song is on no. 1? yumeji's theme. hahahahaha. this is so weird. but i guess i really listen to it a lot. as opposed to my pc where my no.1 song is ahem. eternal flame. hahahahahahaahaha.

wah.

i tot the recess wk is some time when i can finally catch up with my work. but i realise there's just too many stuff i need to be completed this week.

80th Academy Awards.

Actually im only watching it now. haha. anw, the results.

actually i tot it was quite.. boring. watch this instead.

watch some PVs before 哈本營 later.

a special rendition by 永邦. actually i like the 阿桑 version a lot but i cant seem to find the PV on youtube leh. but 永邦's version is surprisingly nice. as in. i never expect this song to be sang by a guy and his rendition is so special. as in it gives a different kind of perspective to this song. cool. anw. i like this song ever since watching the rose. the show rocks. this song too.

this song kind of mark the starting of the whole jay chou kingdom. the whole song is made up of very simple chinese and yet gives a very un-simple meaning. cool.

I love this guy's expression.

hahahahahahaha. i really love his expression. i can watch it over and over again. esp the part where he turned the paper around a posed for a few seconds. hahahahahaa.

watch it again on the channel 8 news.
a few words from PM Lee on cna.

okay. now im looking forward to the new stadium.

haha. im so gonna make this my ringtone.

MTV. so old school!!
Ron Ng and Ella Koon tries to sing this too.

another song. sukiyaki by Kyu Sakamoto.

actually calling it 'sukiyaki' is seriously insulting this song. this song is actually released under the name of 上を向いて歩こう which means 'I shall walk looking up' a super genki kind of title. and because it was so famous it managed to make it to the angmohs. and apparently the title was too long for the angmoh to remember so people started calling it 'sukiyaki', an obviously Japanese name yet easy to remember to say. but sukiyaki is like this kind of hotpot with beef la. quoting from wiki which quoted from a newsweek columnist 're-titling was like issuing "Moon River" in Japan under the title "Beef Stew."' it's quite insulting la. like if some singapore song managed to make it big and the angmoh starts calling it 'char kway teow'. hahahahaha.

i bet most people would have heard this song since they were very young and not even know it's a Japanese song. cos i didnt too. haha. i knew it from lost:time:life episode 3 also. when the main character last wish was to finish her sukiyaki with her family.

went to read on a little on kyu sakamoto and found out a bigger thing. he was killed in a plane accident. the JAL123 accident. it's like the biggest aviation accident that involves a single aircraft. 500plus people died. u can watch the documentary on youtube. wah. it's damn scary. actually the more i watch these kind of documentaries, the more i want to help to prevent this. like the last time i watched the one on the Tenerife disaster. wah. all my hairs were standing. actually a lot can be prevented. but hais. murphy's law.

anyway, a lot of other artisties did covers of 上を向いて歩こう. read it on wiki.

and this week. the 2 big news in HongKong. first lydia sum

and edison chen's return.

another thing. took this photo while i was at cfa today.

i dunno whether people who walk past it will even notice that it's there or even know who this guy is. but still. it's runme shaw leh. i always hear stories from my dad abt runme and runrun shaw and how they started off with make shift cinemas. and their contributions to the chinese film industry.

and under 机缘巧合 my house in ac was also shaw hse. but it's shaw vee meng house, runrun shaw's son.

La La La...

heart itchy itchy.

i always wanted to blog abt this but i kept forgetting. so while i remember i think i shd write it down now.

i saw sharon au. hahahahahaha. she is really so much better looking in real person. i mean she look kind of funny recently on the star awards dont u think. but wah, she is really quite pretty. i look like a monkey nxt to her.

another thing. was forcing myself the whole to think abt why i wanna go ntu. is it because i want to escape from nus? do i really want to go over that and not regret it?

and thus i conclude, i want to go there because i want to learn what i like.

11 days to end of application dates. better confirm in these 2 days.

again. but this time i have Nin Jiom Pei Pa Kao.

actually i was already expecting it. yesh. im sick again. this time with runny nose and a quite bad sore throat. i guess if i were to pinpoint something for this time round, i think it will have to be sleeping too late for too long. i noe at like our age of 19 sleeping late shd be of no problem but i dunno, i think im someone who needs to slp and if u deprive me of slp i'll just get sick. it may sound absurb but ever since sch started i've been slping only around 3-4hrs a day. and i can feel that my body is starting to not take it already. okay. for the nxt 2 wks i shall promise myself an 8 hrs slp a night because mid terms is really too near.

2 things. it was masha's burfday!! hahahaha. i think i was too in the cny mood that i forgot it was masha's burfday till like i saw wanbao's report just now. and guess what. he says that he wants to get married before 40. he said a few times already la, but i guess no one tot he was serious abt this when he has been all talk and no action. and.. he's already 39. which leaves only 355 days to find his wife. haha.

'Tokyo Tower' tops Japanese awards
Film wins five prizes including picture, director
By MARK SCHILLING

Helmer Joji Matsuoka's "Tokyo Tower: Mom and Me, and Sometimes Dad," a mother-son relationship drama based on a memoir by illustrator Lily Franky, scooped five awards including best picture and director at the Japan Academy Awards, held Friday in Tokyo.

Kiki Kirin won the actress prize for playing the pic's dying, but salty-tongued, mother, while Kaoru Koyabashi nabbed the supporting actor award for his turn as the scapegrace absent father. "Tokyo Tower" scripter Masuo Suzuki won for screenplay.

Actor prize went to Hidetaka Yoshioka for his perf as the struggling novelist in the nostalgic drama "Always 2." The thesp picked up the same prize for the same role in the original "Always" in 2006.

Animation laurels went to "Tekkonkinkreet," an action/fantasy toon directed by American Michael Arias, while the foreign film award was given to Clint Eastwood's "Letters From Iwo Jima."

Supporting actress was awarded to Masako Motai for her role as the mother of a businessman accused of molesting a school girl in Masayuki Suo's courtroom drama "I Just Didn't Do It."

The 31st awards go to more mainstream pics than the local critics' prizes sponsored by newspapers and magazines.

oh ya. saw on this like old issue of first magazine talking abt Sugar & Spice. haha. kay. im gonna watch it later. looks quite nice. and the cast's not bad too.

went chingay preview yesterday but will update on that later. photos not uploaded into the computer yet. but chingay is so so so much better watched live than on tv.

someone combined galileo's vs.~知覚と快楽の螺旋~ and 古畑任三郎's theme song on piano.

i still cant get over my song and dance mood. hahaha. i think i posted this before. again la. and wont he get like a bit mixed up halfway cos he forgot which lang he shd be singing? haha.

combini.

Yesterday while i was on the train i had an idea.

i want to transform spore's 7-eleven.

yesh. that's my great business plan.

しるし PV

some screencaps from mr.children's shirushi PV. i thought it's quite interesting as in it is filmed like how u take a portrait photo. i dunno why it's like this. but in japan, all their tv stuff are in 16:9 format but PVs are still in 4:3 which is like quite weird. and so normally PVs will have like 2 black strip on top and bottom to make it 16:9. but this PVis like tilting it to one side. it's 16:9 but 16:9 in a portrait way.

and the PV has only sakurai. and nth. there wasnt any band, any storyline, just him singing, standing, sitting.

konbawa.

guess what. from AY2008/2009 NTU is coming up with several new programmes. first. double degree in engineering and economics. hahahaha. and number 2. a double degree course in business administration and accountancy.

and a new course in engin called 'information engineering and new media'. which teaches core engin stuff together with adm modules and weekimwee modules. to make u a like 片場 technician engineer kind of course. haha. actually the first thing that i tot of was like mrng or mrzuffri.

excuse me evil land. can u see how ntu is adopting to the changing world? stop being so stubborn and start an aerospace course la. then maybe i'll stop considering going over le.

okay la. application is now open. and i checked out the application form. it's quite okay. but while trying to find 'aerospace engineering' i suddenly find this super long course called 'aerospace engineering and economics'. ahhhh. wth la. haha. but even if i go over i dont think i wanna do ddp anymore. as in ddp forces me to do all my breadth/electives in economics. when i want to do like maybe japanese or theatre studies.

and im really gonna give myself till 15feb to really decide whether im gonna fill up that form. and if i've decided on adm i'll pia my portfolio in 10days to send it over. i guess that's the best plan already. actually all along im scared that i wont like to study arts history/theatre studies those sort of modules. oh. and drawing human bodies (u got to see the ones i drew in sec2. hahahahaha). but i guess after some thoughts la. i think i will come to like them. so.it all comes down to whether i'll be worried abt future in obtaining a fine arts degree (somemore not from a reputably reputable arts school) than to obtain a confirm-no-worry-got-job engin degree. and if it's an aero degree the better somemore.

i mean if i get the fine arts degree will be like making my interest into my job la. but im not saying it's good either. cos when u make ur interest ur job u may ultimately lose ur interest(like how when u really like a sport but once u start playing it competitively, u find that it's not that simple) and end up even more miserable as ever. and somemore that industry is not a simple one. it's famous for being messy, hectic those sort. if my interest is not my job, then working with aeroplanes everyday i also very happy then i go home still can spend time watching films, attending plays and be an audience la. hais.

but the thing is if u tell me i can go for any intern i like and confirm will get it, i will still apply for one that is related to arts. it's a.. dilemma la. on one hand i like it a lot, but on the other im quite worried that ultimately i should have chosen the other route. and actually if u ask where my knowledge lies,i will really say 'a very strong grounding in engineering' cos all my knowledge that i think i can fight with those at uni level will be my math, my physics. im like a 村姑 in arts. my drawing is still at my sec2 level. i dont know a single artist well.

i think i shd meet yueyun again before this fri. haha. one last time abt transferring. hey yueyun,im learning matlab this sem!! hahahaha.

Oh My darling

Darling Darling

Darling Darling

Darling Darling
Darling Darling

kabu!! 滿足滿足滿足!! hahahaha. omg. in econs terms, im so full of utils!! hahahaha. went to catch 3 films/musical in this 3 days. wah. this is damn good.

chronically.

i think i am the only person in the family who likes this show so much. haha. maybe because i wasnt expecting much from it in the first place. kungfu hustle didnt even have a plot, so i went in thinking 'er. so maybe this wont have a plot too' and didnt really place big hopes on the whole film.

and it turns out to be quite cool. the plot was quite predictable la. but i like the characters a lot. xujiao's dicky chow, 七仔, dicky's elitist teacher who has this bad hongkong accent, dicky's pretty female teacher, ti chow, dicky's huge friend, dicky's rich classmate, dicky's rich classmate's 打手; they are all really good. xujiao's like a naturally good actress, her expressions are all priceless.

so cj7 actually talks abt this poor father(Ti) and his son(dicky), and despite them being poor the father works like crazy at a construction site in order to send his son to a elite school. everyone, including the bad hongkong accent teacher, in the school dislikes dicky because he is poor and doesnt have a shoe to go for PE. so one day his rich friend brought this toy dog to school called cj1 and dicky really wants one too. so his dad went to the garbage pile and got him a lime green ball and bluff to him thatit's even cooler than cj1, and it's called cj7. so later on dicky realised that it's actually like an alien dog and the story continues with their adventure with the new pet (alien) dog.

i think what i really like abt this film is that the humor is no longer the usual stephen chow slapstick humor. it's less in your face but more of 'eh? omg. like that also can. hahahahahahaha.' kind of comedy. and of course xujiao (oh ya. there was once i brought the iweekly with this quote from xujiao and has a little picture of her in skirt long hair and all.and me jingxian and eunice started laughing because she kind of look a little like cross dressing more than a little cute girl. haha. sorry sorry. but i dunno leh. she looks funny with like plaits and skirt)

Ah Long Pte Ltd

actually i thought this was like 'just follow law' part2 or something like that. fann wong. sissy man. manly woman. oh. and jack neo and his jokes that poke fun at the government("reach work early at 530. spend 3 hours drink teh-o. cant be serious~ beep beep beep" hahahaha. okay. that's not jackneo).

this time it isnt so much of poking fun but just plainly a story abt ah longs. and how fann wong hopes to revamp the whole ah long system. mark lee's character is not as impt in this film, the emphasis is more on fann wong or maybe even richardLow.

oh ya. another thing that i like is the gangsters spoke in cantonese!! hahaha. as in all along all the singapore dialect films used hokkein/teochew but not really cantonese (maybe just man in white). but the gangsters really sound much nicer in canto. haha.less coarse ah.

this is actually not a film but a musical at esplanade theatre. okay.so the story talks abt this young man called wen chong and he plays the violin and like other chinese young people had great hopes the future and the nation. mindee ong's Tu Yun is also a lady in her early twenties and not rich. so wen chong was to set off to join the army to fight against the Japanese (so i presume WWII) and before he set off, Shanghai had a blackout and in the midst of chaos he met tu yun beneath a bridge. they talked to each other for a while and before long they fell in love with each other. they vowed to meet again after the war at the same place (under the bridge) but forgot to ask each other's name; actually because of the blackout they didnt even know how each other looks like. so the war went on for 8 whole years before they finally defeated the Japanese. wen chong is back and he hopes to find tu yun, but tu yun, in order to get a living, now works in a nightclub as a nightclub singer.

coincidentally wen chong's aunt owns the nightclub and so he too works in that nightclub. they dont know that the other person is the one they ahd been longing for for 8 years and ironically they live on the same block; one on the level above the other. then this girl from the 鄉下 called dan lei (emma yong) starts to live with tu yun (of some reason la. very lazy to explain). she sees wen chong and too falls in love with him. dan lei went on and joined this beauty pageant because her family neede the prize money. at the same time she gained fame, she lost other stuff la. wen chong was quite unsure whether he likes dan lei. in one occasion wen chong told tu yun (who was at loggerheads with him) abt the girl he met under the bridge 8 years ago. it was then tu yun found the guy she was too waiting for la. but he didnt believe her. she went on to get an angmoh to help wen chong in lots of stuff and in exchange she would have to be with the angmoh Livingstone. but of course they met again, with some help from dan lei, at the same bridge and coincidentally that night shanghai had another blackout.

i think this is damn good. haha. it's like the first chinese theatre performance i ever watched and it's a musical somemore. the last time i tot a performance that is really great is ShuAn and Leon's camelot. the dances were quite mesmerising, and somemore they had only like 10 people dancing only but it looked like a lot of people. they had a live band right in the middle of the stage comprising (of what i can remember and of what i could see) of a bass guitar, guitar, bass, keyboard, erhu, trumpet. it was really cool. and the moveable props. hahaha. wah. i like it a lot leh. as in you know normally during choral drama night they will have like a 10sec blackout and then several people dressed in black pants and shirts will then dash out and attempt to move the props quietly and swiftly. their props are like on ropes and they just use the ropes to move them up and down.

and it's the first time of my life i see william so upclose.i think if this happened when i was in P6 or something i would have been jumping around in joy or something like that. but woah. this is like the first time i see a hongkong artiste in life action so close in front of me. oh ya.and the actors mics. haha. at first i thought like why everyone seem to have funny hairstyle with like a tiny bunch of hair stuck out in the middle of the top of their forehead. then i realised it's actually a mic. haha. oh gosh. actually from several male actors,it's quite obvious they had wires on their back and all the whole up to their neck and on top of their head and then end on the top of their foreheads. it's quite disturbing at times la, when their mics protrude too much out.

i think it's really good leh. the first half (before the intermission) i was still quite distracted and wasnt putting all my attention on the musical. as in i was like looking at their moving lights and their hanging mics and the mic on their heads. and then sometimes on the wonderful props. and then sometimes on the stage lights. my mind wanders off every now and then. it was only the second half when i was totally into the whole musical. oh ya. before the intermission i dunno why their backdrop suddenly cracks open in the middle and reveals the cyc. what's that suppose to symbolise? oh ya. and for the first half they kept singing 愛得正好 and i was cringing everytime they were singing it. cos it's the same tune but they changed the lyrics and it sounds damn weird. and somemore they got william so and the mood wasnt there la when they used 愛得正好. as in i kept thinking abt kit chan. and a few times they played it on the keyboard and it sounded so much like a charity show. haha. sorry.

and there was an angmoh character in the musical and he of course sang an english song. so i was like thinking 'haiya. actually now i feel like to go for an english musical. aiyah. why never go beauty world..'

but overall i tot it was really good. the emotions ah.the singing. the dancing. i clapped really hard at the end. and i guess everyone clapped really hard too for them cos it was really good. it's really inspiring. i tot all along i only liked film and theatre was like a film performed live. but actually it's a different form of art and it's really nice.

oh ya. shanghai blues is adapted from a film and then into a stage play. the original film was by kenny bee, sally yeh and sylvia chang in 1984. director tsui hark (this is quite shocking right. never i tot tsui hark will make love stories).

Sally Yeh - 晚風 (which is the theme song of the film and also of the Shanghai Blues play)

okay la. another thing.went to ann chong's hse for a mahjong session and lost. we played like 10cents20cents and i lost $3.40. wa. okay. i really need some luck. and somemore i tried talking to the tiles (as learnt from 雀圣2. haha) but it didnt work also. another mj session kay. today's one too short la. i left so early. haha.

and i finished revolving doors of vengeance on tudou till ep3.i think it's quite a feat already. depsite the new year and we had things to do, more movies to watch.haha. it's quite weird but it seems like everyone around me,except me, had finished the drama long ago. haha. and okay la. it's quite nice. and i have a feeling that joe ma's character is actually a nice guy. as opposed to like the car show (which u think he is good at first but turned into someone bad la). and ron ng's so much better in this drama than in like the academy.

a little short promo by tvb for jadeHD channel. it's 10sec long but features 12artistes.
someone compiled the longer version one but with only moses chan, sonjia kwok, kate tsui, raymond lam and fala chen.
and they are now showing 華麗一族 on jadeHD in 16:9. hais. i wanna watch too.

[omg. this post has tons of grammatical errors. sorry. but im really too lazy to go correct them. just ignore them la. haha.]

Remember that old philosophical brain-teaser that states that if you have a boat, and over a period of time you replace each piece of wood bit by bit as it begins to rot, is it the same boat as when you started once you have replaced every last plank? A similar conundrum can be readily applied to the question of national identity.

Perhaps more than most countries, on a purely superficial level modern Japan bares little resemblance to the country it was a hundred years ago. Within the cultural, political, economic domains, Japan has certainly absorbed more from abroad than it has given in return. The only level in which pure "Japanese-ness" remains unsullied is ethnically. You may speak Japanese, you may look Japanese, you may have been born in Japan, but unless you can trace your lineage back to the Tokugawa period, to the indigenous inhabitants you'll always been an outsider.

Hair trendily spiked, and a defiant swagger in his walk, Sugihama could be any other rebel-without-a-clue Japanese High School student, were it not for the fact that he's not just the kid from the wrong side of the tracks; he's from the wrong side of the Japan Sea, a second generation North Korean, or zainichi. However, such definitions sit badly with him. "If I'm a Japanese resident Korean, that means I'm going back". Fat chance, having already been thrown out of the austere cloistered corridors of his North Korean School for cursing at the teacher in Japanese. His decision to move to a Japanese school wins him a certain degree of respect from his former fellow zainichi students, but it opens him up to a stream of violence from his new classmates.

Fortunately his greatest form of defence comes from the boxing lessons he has received from his father (Yamazaki) since childhood. His second in that like most Koreans, to the outside eye he is indistinguishable to the Japanese, a factor that seems the most likely passport into full integration with his adapted homeland when he meets pristine high school princess Sakurai (Shibasaki, best known for her memorable role as the minx with the scythe in Battle Royale). However, for all their shared love of non-Japanese rap music and Bruce Lee films, the question still lingers as to whether Sakurai is still prepared to accept Sugihama at face value once she learns his about his true origins.

Foreign critics have been quick to point out Japan's strained relationship with its neighbouring Asian countries, and the prejudice faced by ethnic Asians living in Japan. Some have stated that the issue is completely brushed under the carpet, but the truth is, Go, which received a simultaneous theatrical release in Japan and South Korea, is not the first film treatment of the subject. Nor is it the first film about discrimination directly against Koreans. It is however the first major film to challenge existing preconceptions about Japanese identity within such a commercial format. That it does so in such a moving and high-spirited fashion makes it even more worthy of note.

But it's not just the issue of prejudice, reflected in the unconscious racism of Sakurai, which is tackled, but that of racial identity in general. In the early scenes Sugihama's father cashes in his North Korean passport for a South Korean one, ostensibly so that he can take his wife (Otake) on holiday to Hawaii, much to the disgust of his son. One of Sugihama's former classmates from his North Korean Junior High School berates him for wearing jeans and listening to Mariah Carey (admittedly, a heinous crime whatever part of the globe you stem from). Sugihama's desire to break through the boundaries is shared by his best friend, nerdy brainbox Jong-Il (Hosoyamada), who sees the insularity imposed upon them through the exclusively Korean speaking "minzoku" schools in which they are drilled with the communist spirit as equally unhealthy. He is instrumental in pointing to a broader world outside of both Japan and Korea when he lends Sugiyama a translated copy of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet (from which the film's opening quote, "What's in a name? That which we call a rose, by any other name would smell so sweet?" is taken) it's a reminder that, as our hero constantly tells us, this is after all a love story.

Adapted from the novel of the same name by Kazuki Kaneshiro, himself a zainichi, from the opening scenes where our beleaguered protagonist receives a pasting on the basketball court (from his own team nonetheless), Go sets forth its agenda in a vital, spirited fashion, deeply reminiscent of Danny Boyle's Trainspotting in its raw energy. However, along with its semi-comedic asides, surrealistic touches, and a style marked out by a use of such modernist techniques as freeze frames and jump cuts laid down to a compulsive pounding soundtrack and a continuous voiceover from its sage-like protagonist, its focus on Asian ethnics living in Japan is likely to draw attention away from director Yukisada's previous work - Sunflower (2000), Luxurious Bone (2001), and his contribution to the six DV-shot Love Cinema series Enclosed Pain (2001) - to his role as AD on Shunji Iwai's Swallowtail Butterfly (1996), another tale of Asians living in Japan, which treated its subject matter in a similarly glitzy fashion.

Through the in-your-face violence and dazzling virtuosity of its approach, Go often comes dangerously close to over-stating its case in a manner that is more cinematic flourish than verisimilitude. In this respect it's easy to criticise Go's focus on the individual racism that its protagonist suffers from over the deeply ingrained institutionalised racism which ensures that even after several generations, many resident Koreans are still refused Japanese passports.

Nevertheless, Kubozuka, the top teen heart-throb of Japanese cinema in 2002 through his roles in Laundry and Ping Pong, fills his role as Sugihama with an affable punkish charm that is hard to resist. Go's dramatic trajectory may be a fairly well travelled one, but in its stronger moments, such as the romantic interplay between Kubozuka and Shibasaki, it's undeniably affecting, and as such, one of the most outstandingly compelling and thought-provoking films of its year.

i think it's a not bad movie. watched it 1.5 times (haha) but because for all the tims i werent really paying attention while watching, so i guess i have to watch it another time to really decide whether it's good.

on imdb

like many others i like this line which was shown at the start of the movie and at another time at a quite crucial moment.

Juliet:
"What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet."

Romeo and Juliet (II, ii, 1-2)

yatta.

went this mad shopping trip with chinshyan and eunice last wk. actually it was the thu and fri that just went past. we are really mad. being old deliquents like us, we went out of school grounds in btw lessons to shop in *gasp* chinatown. hahahahahaha. it sounds quite absurd but chinatown sure have stuff to shop too. im quie shock actually. then we came back to school for one more lecture before heading down to bugis for another round of shopping. haha.

then on fri after lessons and welfare pack giveaway and all. we went down to town. haha. started from far east then moved to cine area. seriously. if it was a 8-hr shopping trip kind i would have died. but i realised im quite suitable for this type of 4 hrs at a go shopping. didnt really buy stuff though (as always) but i guess since i started new year shopping from dec last year, i'v gotten myself some really cool stuff for the new year.

and while we were at cine we saw the filming of 唯我獨尊!! actually it was like rather late around 11pm plus and that it was also like drizzling, there wasnt a lot of people. but guess what. 明哥 is like one of the judges. yup. the 明哥 who gives all the juicy gossips on you-weekly each wk. hais. i think he is going to be famous very very soon. haha. from the trend that his blog is getting more hits and now he's like a judge in some variety-star-searching programme.

oh. and i saw my favorite contestant of star search in school on.. wed. oh gosh. he's really much better on tv. hahahahahahahaha. he wore this damn ugly pants and had this ugly sunglasses on his collar (as in he wasnt wearing it so he kind of hang it on his collar). super ugly. haha. i think he was there for japanese lessons. apparently from the timeslot he's still in japanese1.

and the hotel show started on thu. shit. which means that i have to watch ep2 before 10pm tmr in order to catch up.

found this on youtube. it's like this whole series of fashion show(?)/publicity act by G.O.D. they really did weird stuff. like catwalking in the middle on the road. faking this pinic in the middle of the pedestrian crossing.

我是堅信good things come in threes的人。

the more i look at Kazutoshi Sakurai's hair. the more i think it's very nice. hahahaha. his hair is like his hair dresser hate him or he doesnt bother at all. but it's quite nice after some time. haha.

another thing. taiwan's filming their own honey and clover. havent watched a single version of it. but i guess taiwan's version is less of the normal taiwan idol drama that most likely turn out to be quite bad. but from the cast, it seems like one that is more of the artsy type. like maybe 愛情白皮書. they got eddie peng and li guoyi and (har?) this japanese girl(who is chiaki ito?) who i really dont know. im not very sure abt this. but from some news out there that ethan ruan and joe cheng will be in it too. yup.

and um. they are doing a taiwanese version of liar game too. with rainie yang.

Mr.Children

hahahaha. this is like the second time i posting the same youtube video. saw the koi zora movie poster in cine. which means they are going to show it soon. cool.
